It was beginning. Ian realized that Raphael had not sent him on just another mission when he saw the man that existed in the other realm, and looked into his soul. So much time had passed since they were laid to rest, but he always knew that there would be a time and place in which they would return again. He just did not realize that the time would come about so soon. He should have seen the signs with Mari, but in the realm of Yalanze, gods were usually a commonplace thing, despite how few there were. But it was true, the Divine Power was spreading to other worlds, other realities. The idea ruffled the feathers of his wings, and as he looked down upon the Paladins below, he knew that there was a rising tide that was coming, and soon, all of reality would be unraveled through the crashing tide. Samael was the first warning, and he ignored the true severity of it when he was imprisoned long ago. Now, it may have already been the point of no return for them all. Still, he had to do something.

He had been watching over the Citadel for some time, invisible to the Paladins below, he forgot that he was in his true form, rather than his mortal form, which was far more appealing to the eye than his real form. Paladins were usually “safe” to see his real form, but at most, many of them still got headaches if they looked at him for too long. It was the non-Paladins that Ian had to worry about. One look at him and their eyes would explode from their sockets. Not everyone was built to look at an angel. Many were “limited” in mind. Fortunately, if one could say that, he was not on the level of Sariel, or even Raphael or Michael. As Archangels, their forms had a more powerful result if a mortal looked upon them, that was not made to be able to. Michael once put it simply as some humans would spontaneously combust at the cellular level. Ian had never seen such a thing before, but he was thankful for the privilege of not being able to see it.

Mari was ever-so cautious not to do this to an innocent. He was thinking about her then, and how Michael and the others were glad that she was alive. At the moment, she was probably the only one that could help. Although her godly powers were limited within the Heavenly realms, they were boundless in this realm. She alone, could see into Ian’s grace and see what he had seen. Now, he just needed her to come to him, so he can alert her of the danger. “Marina, if you can hear me, I need you here. We have something very urgent to discuss…”

It startled her that someone called to her. She was so used to being forgotten now that Vlad was gone and there were more important things to deal with. She'd sent Autumn off on an errand and had been working to make sure that even in the midst of sadness and death love and hope still existed. That meant things as simple as first crushes to making sure that orphan children found loving homes to flourish and grow healthy with.

There was a lot to do and she was glad she was a goddess who could traverse the planet in moment because there was no way she could do it even as an angel. She never wanted to ignore the common person in her attempt to make the world a better place for those in it. She had just sat back in her chair and was looking over the days list to see who needed caring for when she heard a familiar voice calling her.

Why would he call her? He had so many things he needed to be doing. It puzzled her and she teleported to him the instant after the words left his mouth. She appeared in her more human seeming to avoid someone being hurt by her true form and glanced about the space to see they were alone. It would appear that the paladins were gone. She made sure that the only one who could see her was Ian.

The light pink of her gown shimmered in the light and her hair was braided with flowers and pink ribbons. Her arm cuff gleamed and sparkled with light. She smiled softly at Ian. She missed him and had always felt there was much they needed to discuss. It felt wrong to seek him out for something so trivial however, so she had focused on her duty. His summoning her gave her the excuse to visit him.

"What is wrong, Ian?" She asked him softly. Concern in her gaze as she stood before him. She folded her hands to keep from being overly familiar with him. She did not have that right any more and she wouldn't presume to push her way into his life. "Are you hurt?" she asked him in concern as she waited to see what he had to say.

Ian had been surveying the other universe for some time. He had no idea as to why it had been so necessary, but when Raphael spoke to Ian, he had a sense of concern about him, that he had never seen on the Archangel in ages. Not since Ian first heard Raphael recollect the true story behind Lucifer’s fall, did he see such worry and such concern. There had been rumors that Michael personally sent Ian to investigate, despite the rising Lich threat of this realm. Nevertheless, if this was the will of Michael, then Ian would obey. However, arriving in the alternate world, he found that he took on another form. It was not uncommon for the human form of an angel to change from world to world, as they often took the form of a person that did not exist in the world they normally walked in. Though it would have been easier to take on their true form, it was often prohibited by the higher ranking Archangels, as an angel’s true form was often overwhelming in any reality.

In Ian’s case, the moment he had entered the new reality, he was already drawn to an overwhelming force. He knew of a great deal of beings and things that rivaled an angel in power, but to sense mortal beings that rivaled such a power overwhelmed the senses. What he saw, there was no train of thought for, save to report to Raphael. Ian was back in the realm of the Archangels, ready to report to Raphael, only to realize that his mentor was not responding, and was no longer in Heaven, but on Yalanze. It would have been harder to find Raphael now, if he was cloaking himself, but he knew that Zadkiel would have been able to hear him. Her newly acquired abilities granted her a superior sense of knowledge, easily to mistake for omniscience. She was there almost instantly, and Ian turned to smile at her. “Hello Mari,” he replied, calling her by the name she went by on this plane of existence, “physically, I am fine, but I have news that needs to be passed on to Raphael immediately.”

Almost immediately, he began to explain how he was in another universe altogether, under Raphael’s orders. He was on a universe where the denizens still existed on Earth. He had been walking through the streets, drawn to a mysterious pull until he found it. A human, whose aura was blanketed in a light, brighter than any angel’s presence. Ian, himself could hardly look at the man’s aura without feeling blinded. It was like gazing upon a Seraphim, but as he looked at the man, he suddenly recognized the face. It was his face. Ian’s Yalanzean form, except his human form existed as a distinct personality in this universe. However, it was not his human doppelganger that caught his attention, as much as his aura. Ian recognized the aura, even if he never saw it before. Raphael told him all about it, and even more so, he knew what it meant as well.

“Zadkiel, the godly essences are spreading,” he explained, “not just here on Yalanze, but on another universe as well. My human counterpart on this Earth...he was one of the reincarnations of a god. They’re returning, and this is something Raphael and Michael need to know immediately.” It was important that they knew the truth, important to know what this meant. Few things scared Raphael, and the last time Ian ever saw Michael, he knew that he was a fearless being, but Ian saw fear in Raphael’s face once, and only one thing scared Raphael. Beyond Lucifer’s escape, beyond their Creator’s wrath, Ian knew that if the gods were walking the Earth, then it was an early warning sign.

Canting her head to the side, Marina glanced at Ian as he spoke to her. The fact that he could not find Raphael was troubling. It meant that Raphael had seen something he personally needed to tend to. He might be busy or in the midst of a great battle. Exhaling softly she placed her hands together and focused her power. She might be able to at least hone in on him and allow Ian to go to where Raphael was. “I cannot guarantee that he won’t be busy but if I can scry for him for you you will be able to travel to him and deliver your message directly.”

Separating her hands she produced a circular scrying window. The energy whirled in a circle as she focused her will. The image began to solidify as a hospital came into view. Raphael sat next to a patient, his grubby appearance belying his mission there as he worked to heal a man who looked to have been bitten by a lich

Hearing Ian’s words Mari’s eyes grew wide, “That is not what should be happening.” Focusing her energies into a psychic pulse she attempted to contact Raphael, “Brother, I am sending Ian to you. He has information that you and Michael should know of.” Her words travelled to him with the speed of light and she turned to Ian a moment, worry in her eyes.

Sighing she focused on creating another scrying window, this one showed Michael, dirt stained and grimacing as he stood amidst men, his angelic blade gleamed a bright white with power as he looked around him, “Michael, hear me. Ian has news. He will come to you presently.” She said telepathically to her warrior brother, “There is news and it is not good.” She said firmly, her face solemn as she focused her words and sent them to the planet

“Can you travel to them, Ian? Do you have enough information to find them?” She asked softly. She didn’t want to send him some place unless she had to. It was very draining and he wasn’t a follower so the task would be more of a strain on her. She would do it if he needed her to but she would have to rest on her plane if he needed her to take him both places. A breeze fluffed her dark mane as she waited for her former husband’s response. She worried about him even if she didn’t have to. It was in her nature to care for others, especially those whom she had children by.

Ian looked at the threshold before him as Zadkiel reached out to Michael and Raphael. The Paladins below would feel a tinge of power from the Citadel, but not see what was transpiring above them. He knew that Samael's rising was just the beginning of something larger on the rise, but to see similar events happening in other universes was unnerving. No doubt Michael and Raphael may have felt a shift as it was, but Ian had to report nevertheless. "Let Matthew know that I will return," Ian replied to Marina, "and you would be doing him a favor if you warded him from entering a pub, or any den of iniquity for that matter." That being said, Ian stepped through the threshold and watched as the hole in reality closed behind him.

He stood in a multidimensional space of white light, standing in the full grace of his angelic form as two older, larger brothers with multiple wings stood before him. Ian stood respectfully in silence, waiting to be spoken to and given permission to speak. "Ian..." Raphael spoke, "it is good to see you, brother." The second angel, larger than the first and largest of all three angels standing, his true form indescribable to any human tongue, nodded in agreement as he looked at his little brother, waiting for his report in absolute patience, despite the worn look on his angelic face. "Brothers," Ian began, "the reincarnates have begun to appear. Namely, one that shares the mortal form I take on Yalanze." Ian clutched the prayer beads wrapped around his right hand, which held the names of every soul he has brought to the other side.

"Can you describe the one you saw in further detail?" Michael spoke, at last, inquiring of the Mage in question. Ian nodded silently before saying, "It was Apollo reborn. His aura shined with the intensity of a sun, brighter than any aura I have ever seen. For a moment, I could see the power that was dormant within his soul. He could annihilate a city if his power isn't kept in check. More so, this has been but another revelation that the Primordials are seeping back into the world." Michael and Raphael looked at each other before looking back to Ian. They had to be sure, and both touched a side of Ian's temple. Suddenly, they saw everything that Ian had seen in the past. As they pulled back, they knew that what Ian had seen was true. Luiniel was present in this realm, and despite her disdain for the monsters in that world, she was important in the role of helping the humans of that realm advance in technology.

"Return to Yalanze for now, Ian. We will convene with Council and speak of how to move next. We will speak again soon..." Michael touched Ian's forehead, and suddenly, he was back on Yalanze, watching the threshold he had walked through earlier close behind an earlier version of himself. "I'm back..." Ian said, getting Mari's attention.

She blinked quietly and canted her head to the side, “Matthew? Oh dear.” She sighed softly, “I had hoped he would find someone and his escapades would lessen with age.” The last thing a grown man needed was his mother haranguing him. Still, while Ian stepped out she passed the message on to her distracted son. As always, Matty wasn’t listening for her, he was tuning her out and while she could force it there was too much going on for her to focus on her brunette son.

Mari had to make sure that Ian wasn’t lost in the chaos. She waited as her brothers spoke to Ian and quietly took it in. When Ian stumbled she caught him, “Welcome back. Did they advise you or tell you to wait till they had a chance to discuss what to do?” She folded her hands together once Ian didn’t need her help any more.

“Nothing happens by coincidence. Everything has been trying to make us aware of this moment. We did not realize it till now but we must work to correct the errors that are happening now if possible. Someone must undertake the tasks at hand and correct this imbalance.” She said quietly as she regarded his somber countenance. There was a part of her that was afraid of everything that was happening. She trusted her brothers to deal with the problem but it still it bothered her that things were going to spin out of control if they weren’t careful. She sighed softly and rubbed her temples in a very human gesture that she’d picked up in Sylthanus. She knew it wouldn’t help but it was a sign of her agitation.
